“Perhaps you were created for such a time as this…”
These word have been ringing in my heart for the past few weeks. Perhaps. Just maybe you were made for this particular time and dispensation. Just maybe, the world needs someone like you. Someone who is unique and peculiar in all the ways you were fashioned by the very hands of God. Just perhaps the world needs someone who has the experiences and perspective and views life the way you do.

I have OBSESSED over how to begin this blog. I have written 10 other posts with no problems at all, but starting this post has been such a challenge! Fighting through my doubts and fears and struggling to make sure that my purest voice stands out, I want to give you readers something I’m proud of sharing, something that is real! My life is so far from the picturesque version of life that we see so often. I want to share my real life moments. I’ve found that in those real life moments God gives you the best lessons. Growth is found in the midst of failure and mistakes and just plain ole everyday life.
This blog is for people who can relate. My goal is that in my transparency, you will find tools for growth as well. I’m so tired of the false perfection that we see so often but never grow from it. Each post I share is intended to encourage, to challenge, to give you a glimpse into my life. I’m nowhere near a perfect person (as you will soon see), but I want to share with you what I’ve learned and also what I’m learning. I want to create a place for open dialogue and exchange. I never want this to be something that is one sided.
Since this is the first encounter that many of you will have had with me, I wanted to do something fun and treat this like a first date. I haven’t been on a date in over ___ years. (There is no number there because I really can’t remember- It’s been THAT long.) According to the internet, since I can’t remember from experience, the first date is where you’re supposed to ask questions and learn all about the other person. I want to introduce myself, first date style. So without further ado, let’s go on our first date!
What kinds of things really make you laugh?
I like goofy humor. My favorite thing is to see people fall down stairs. I can spend hours on YouTube watching people fall.
Favorite movie of all time?
Do I have to pick just one? I guess I’d have to say Beauty and the Beast.I love Disney so much!
What’s your favorite dessert?
Yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Also my mama’s sweet potato pie. I can eat a whole pie in 2 days. Kind of sad but impressive, right?
What is your favorite kind of music?
Worship music!!! I put together a post with my current playlist that I’ll share.
Where do you feel most relaxed?
Anywhere I can go without having to wear pants. I’m the type to disrobe as soon as I get home. So if I can go without pants, I’m pretty relaxed!
What’s something you’ve been really proud of lately?
Starting this blog! It’s been so much work! I’m really excited about what the future holds!
What makes you nervous?
Doing something new. Posting this blog! Letting you guys in my real world!
What do you do for a living?
I work for a Landscape Architecture company as an Accounting Administrator. I like my job. It’s not what I want to do forever but right now, it’s a really great place with great people.
Where are you originally from?
A little town called Muskegon, Michigan. I was born there and lived in MI until I was 5. Now I live in Columbus, Ohio.
Are you more of a TV person, or do you prefer movies?
BOTH!!!! Which is why I LOVE Netflix! I love to binge watch TV shows, but I can also get down with a really great movie. I have a weird love for B rated movies which Netflix has a plethora of those!
What are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about growing into who God made me to be (hence this blog!) I know that there is so much more- so much more to experience and so much more to get out of life that it is driving me to push past my comfort zone so I can be all He made me!
Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate?
Milk chocolate. Dark Chocolate can be so bitter! I do like Dove Dark Chocolate though!
What scares you the most?
Being stuck! I never want to stop learning or stop growing. Other than that? Mice. But not Mickey or Minnie.
Favorite Childhood memory?
Summers at my grandmother’s house. We had this thing every week where we had arts and crafts in the park. I would make spin art, paint ceramics and more. I loved that!!!
If you could only eat one thing forever, what would it be?
I was literally just having this conversation with my coworkers the other day! I said Chicken. Why you ask? Because chicken is so versatile. Most cultures incorporate chicken in their dishes. I’ve thought about this long and hard people! #ILOVECHICKEN
What’s one bad habit you have?
Not putting things where they go. I never and I mean never use my hook for keys.
N*Sync or Backstreet Boys?
I remember once in 6th grade, I almost got into a fight at school with a girl over this. The answer to this will make or break a friendship. For me, N*Sync always and forever. I loved curly hair Justin Timberlake, but JC Chasez was babe!
My favorite scripture is Romans chapter 8 from beginning to end! That chapter has ministered to me in so many different ways in several seasons of my life.
Perhaps the world needs someone like me. Someone who will fight over N*Sync and the Backstreet Boys. Someone who has eaten a whole sweet potato pie in 2 days. Someone who is more afraid of staying the same than of working to grow and change. Someone from a little town called Muskegon, Michigan who is ready to share with the world all the areas that God is growing, stretching and changing her.
I want to get to know you too! Pick a couple of the “first date” questions and answer them in the comments below!
